Dean H. Davis
PRICE-Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, Dean H. Davis, “Poppie” 73, passed away October 5, 2022 at his home after battling Frontotemporal Dementia.
He was born December 27, 1948 in Price, Utah to Lawrence Richard and Clea B. Robertson Davis. When Dean was 18, he married the love of his life, Carol Sue Misner, June 17, 1967 in Helper, Utah; she preceded him in death on April 24, 2003.
When Dean was a child, he and his twin brother Gene R. Davis were the happiest little rascals in town, not to mention the hardest working. At age six, Dean and his twin helped their parents be little janitors for Castle Gate Elementary. As a teenager, Dean was a wrestler for Carbon High School and went to state for that. Dean and Sue loved to dance, go fishing, and participate in many family reunions. Dean attended the College of Eastern Utah to study the machinist trade, where he helped teach algebra in the classroom. Professionally, Dean first worked at Univac then went on to work in the mining industry; Hiawatha coal mine, as the maintenance foreman, and reclaiming gold mines in Arizona and New Mexico as a foreman. Later, Dean returned to Price to become as an entrepreneur, including opening a fitness center and a Kawasaki shop and purchasing and running a Jiffy Lube. Dean was a very driven, hardworking, and beloved father, brother, husband, uncle and Poppie. He coached baseball, made every stray a pet and enjoyed getting down on the floor to play with his grandchildren.
Dean is survived by two sons and two daughters, Randall “Randy” Misner, Salt Lake City, Dean “Kenny” Kenneth (Cally) Davis, Price, Dyann Vasten and Ron Tallerico, Price, Jennifer Marie (Marc) Tomadakis, St. George; twin brother, Gene (Sue) Davis, Spring Glen; sister, Marlene Ghirardelli, Price; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Vasten, Jody (DJ) Karren, Kenny Davis, KayLee (Geoff) Vogel, Chance Misner, Max Misner, Zac Tomadakis, Brianna Tomadakis, Eric Tomadakis; nine great-grandchildren, Sophie, Drayden, Bayleigh, Link, Sky, Jaylee, Miyah, Maddison and Annabelle.
Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Clea; wife, Carol Sue Davis; two brothers, Derrald and Bob Davis; and an infant sister, Darlene.
Funeral service, Saturday, October 8, 2022, 1:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Dean online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
