Pop The Top Craft Beer Shop is doubling down on Charlotte. It has snapped up a 2,000-square-foot location at 4000 Monroe Road, Suite 500. There’s roughly 750 square feet of patio space.
Pop The Top will be part of Oakhurst Commons, a 135,000-square-foot adaptive-reuse development in Charlotte’s Echo Hills neighborhood
Co-owner Ketan Patel says the Oakhurst, Echo Hills and Monroe Road corridor is a long-forgotten area of Charlotte in terms of development. “(It) is starting to see an explosion of new and exciting businesses. We wanted to be a part of this exciting growth,” he says.
He and wife Kathy Patel are behind the business. Pop The Top offers a selection of craft beer from the Carolinas as well as local kombucha, cider and a variety of wines.
The goal is to open in summer 2023, though that depends on when the building is handed over for upfit, Ketan Patel says.
Pop The Top opened its first location on West Boulevard in May 2017. That shop allowed the couple to realize their dream of owning their own business, while doing something they love, Ketan says. “Our focus has always been bringing in local and regional craft beers from in and around N.C and neighboring states. What sets us apart is our attention to detail, a fun, relaxing and cozy atmosphere with great beers and wine to drink on-site or take to-go,” he says.
The new location to have a similar vibe to Pop The Top’s South End location — but double the amount of seating. Think industrial, but modern atmosphere with a clean look filled with local artwork and greenery.
The shop will have a tap list of craft beer as well as cold to-go options, including crowlers and growlers. Expect three times as many to-go wine selections with varieties from around the worlds. There also will be packaged food available.
Pop The Top worked with Thrift Commercial Real Estate Services on the deal.
Peadon Finein Architecture has been tapped for the project. A general contractor has not been selected yet.
