April Carretta has been named to lead global communications for Walt Disney Company’s portfolio of direct-to-consumer businesses under its Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) group.
Walt Disney Company’s (NYSE: DIS) DTC products include Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar and broadcast and cable television networks, including ABC-owned stations. Comcast has partial ownership of Hulu.
DMED, under the leadership of chairman Kareem Daniel, is responsible for the monetization of content from the company’s content engines across studios, general entertainment and sports.
Carretta will report to Heather Hust Rivera, senior vice president of communications for Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution.
Carretta joined Disney and the DMED group in 2019 to lead communications for the company’s platform distribution organization as senior vice president. Her responsibilities encompassed communications for third-party media sales, content sales agreements, affiliate marketing for direct-to-consumer services and linear media networks, global theatrical film distribution, and other Disney properties including Disney Music Group and the El Capitan Theater.
She held prior marketing and global communications strategy roles for companies including Twentieth Century Fox, Edelman and Sony Pictures.
The Walt Disney Company has its headquarters in Burbank, California.
