SuperYacht Times is pleased to announce the first speakers for the Gulf Superyacht Summit. The two-day event will be held on the 9 and 10 November in Dubai onboard the Queen Elizabeth 2, under the patronage of P&O Marinas.
Peter Lürssen announced as keynote interviewee
Peter Lürssen, CEO of Lürssen is now also being announced as the honoured keynote interviewee for the event. Peter Lürssen is the fourth-generation shipyard owner of the legendary German shipyard, which has built a large proportion of some of the world’s most exclusive yachts.
The future of the Gulf and the Red Sea
Abeer AlShaali of Gulf Craft: Gulf Craft is well known for the construction of production motor yachts in the UAE. With a construction facility outside of Dubai and offices within the city, the shipyard truly has a claim as the superyacht builder of the region. AlShaali has been with the company for more than three years and is now deputy Managing Director.
Hamza Mustafa of P&O Marinas: As the patron of The Gulf Superyacht Summit, the provides a collection of world-class luxury marinas and picturesque harbours, pioneering the establishment of Dubai as the capital of boating and yachting destinations in the Middle East. Hamza Mustafais a pioneer in real estate development, cruise tourism and luxury yachting. Through his role as Chief Operating Officer at P&O Marinas, Mustafa is passionate about the ongoing evolution of Dubai into a global yachting destination.
The challenges of finance and insurance in the Gulf
Oliver Blanchet, BNP Paribas: As the Head of Private Jet and Yacht Finance, Oliver Blanchet of the French international banking group has a deep understanding of the financing and insurance of superyachts. Working particularly within the Gulf region, Blanchet will bring a wealth of experience on the challenges and opportunities within the UAE and beyond.
Investing in the UAE
Francis Lapp, Founder of Sunreef: Francis Lapp, will speak at the Summit. Lapp founded Sunreef Yachts, the Polish shipyard that builds bespoke customised, individually-crafted luxury catamarans and multihull superyachts located in Gdansk, Poland. Upon its establishment, the company filled a gap in the industry for luxury catamaran-building and recently opened an office in the region.
Paolo Casani, CEO of C&N: Speaking alongside Lapp is Paolo Casani who became CEO of British heritage yacht brokerage firm Camper & Nicholsons in 2015. Casani has a long and established career in various areas of the luxury sector and the brokerage house has recently invested in the region with its first offices in Dubai.
Charter the way forward for the Gulf?
Jonny Dodge, Founder of My Ocean Company: My Ocean is a global yacht company founded in 2020, specialising in large yacht charter and sale, driven by Crypto. Jonny Dodge, the CEO of MY Ocean, is a British entrepreneur specialising in luxury and experiences, based in Dubai and working with international owners and charterers.
Amit Patel, Co.Founder of Xclusive Yachts: Xclusive Yachts is a yacht charter company, training academy and boat club based in Dubai. Amit Patel is the Founder and Managing Director of Xclusive Yachts, which under his leadership has won awards for its role as one of the most prominent yacht rental companies in the Middle East, with more than 70 vessels currently owned by the business.
Levidian: Decarbonise methane, creating hydrogen and graphene
Jamie Edmiston, CEO of Edmiston: Earlier in 2022, Edmiston, one of the world’s most successful and respected luxury yacht brokerage companies, and Levidian Nanosystems, a British climate tech business, formed an innovative partnership, uniting for a greener future. Jamie Edmiston oversaw this iconic collaboration, introducing Levidian’s technology into the maritime sector. He strives for Edmiston to work forward, alongside Levidian, towards net zero.

Engel Jan de Boer of Lloyd’s Register: Lloyd’s is a global professional services company specialising in engineering and technology for the maritime industry. Engel Jan de Boer is the Yacht Segment and Sales Manager of the Dutch company.
Paolo Bertetti, Vice President Technical R&D at Sanlorenzo: Sanlorenzo is an Italian shipyard that produces luxury made-to-measure yachts since 1958. Paolo Bertetti – Vice President of Technical R&D Sanlorenzo – has been a part of the company since 2008, and strives for a newer and greener chapter for Sanlorenzo yachts, with plans to ensure carbon-neutral electricity sources for medium-size superyachts.
Designing and building Superyachts vs Cruise Ships
Daniel Nerhagen, Yacht Director and Partner of Tillberg Design of Sweden: TDoS has been at the forefront of luxury yacht design for over half a century. The company specialises in the cruise industry, particularly hospitality projects, having gathered a wealth of experience since its establishment in 1964. Nerhagen is an integral part of the creative minds behind the company’s work, which operates extensively within the Gulf region.
