With a hot summer in place, the Young Biz Kidz Marketplace second annual kidpreneurs fest was held at Sesquicentennial Park located in the Springfield neighborhood.
The free marketplace is the training ground for youth entrepreneurs ages 5 – 16 to share their inventions, wares and creative ideas. Onsite were 17 businesses and 22 kidprenuers that vended and sold their wares. Participants received swag bags, giveaways and refreshments. The event is held each year to teach youth how to follow their dreams of becoming an entrepreneur with free training, marketing and business workshops throughout the year.
This experimental program teaches youth how to start, own and operate their very own business. Each year, in participating cities, youth have the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship by setting up their business during their city’s community-wide Young Biz Kid Day.
This year’s event ambassadors were 2021 Disney Dreamers Teen CEO Christianna Alexander of Sweets Christi’s a company for girls that makes fun bath plant based products that look and smell like delectable sweet treats and featured on HSN and QVC. Junior Ambassador Autumn Taylor is owner of Sweet Squad that encourages other girls to start a business. The teens in attendance were eager to start building their entrepreneurship portfolio while dreaming of becoming mini moguls now.
“In addition to providing income, entrepreneurship teaches effective communication, personal responsibility and problem solving skills. It also builds self-esteem and storng relationshipos making it a great resource economically, academically, academically and socially,” said non-profit founder Arriel.
