A woman is furious with her boyfriend because he won’t let her live in his house for free.
She went on Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum for advice. Her boyfriend owns a house, and she plans on moving in with him after her lease is up. The issue is he expects them to split expenses equally. However, she doesn’t want to pay him rent because she isn’t on the deed to the home.

“I don’t have any stake in the house. Why would I contribute to his mortgage payments? I’m ok helping with utilities, groceries, household items, etc. But paying his mortgage is a hard no from me,” she wrote.
The boyfriend argued she would be paying half her usual rent and that if she lived with him for free, it could create a financial imbalance between them.
“Which, I kind of get, but at the same time, he’s the one benefitting from paying down the mortgage and gaining equity, not me,” she said. “He also argued that his mortgage is pretty much exactly what I was paying in rent, so by cutting that in half, I am saving a lot of money on living costs compared to living on my own.”
Watch this Brooklyn bedroom go from drab to fabulous in one day:
She proposed he sign a contract where he agreed that “any money I pay towards his mortgage will be paid back to me, by him,” should they split. He refused to sign it. But she still feels like it doesn’t make sense to contribute to a mortgage of a home she doesn’t own.
Redditors didn’t think the girlfriend had a leg to stand on.
“You don’t have any stake in the house, why would you get to live there for free?” a person wrote.
“You are asking him to live there FREE or put your name on the title when you aren’t married or even engaged,” another said.
“You’re incredibly entitled and he should dump you,” someone added.
With just $1,000 and one day, this Harlem bedroom gets a brand new look:
