Grant Cardone — a real estate mogul, New York Times best-selling author and star of Discovery Channel’s “Undercover Billionaire” — is expanding his company to Scottsdale.
Cardone is teaming up with his business partner Brandon Dawson to lease 25,000 square feet of office spare and hire 45 employees for the new Scottsdale office of Grant Cardone Ventures LLC.
With this expansion into the market comes a goal to buy 2,000 apartment units in metro Phoenix next year, said Cardone, co-founder, chairman and managing partner of his eponymous company.
Looking at the positive job growth and migration patterns, Cardone said metro Phoenix is benefiting from the “insanity of California.”
He said Phoenix and Scottsdale are on sale.
“I think there’s a blue light special in Arizona,” Cardone said. “While the people in Arizona may complain about rents going up and home prices going up, the truth is they have not gone up in equal proportion to the amount of money that’s been printed.”
An official opening for the new Scottsdale office at 4800 N. Scottsdale Road is set for Nov. 15.
Cardone said he’s been coming to the Scottsdale area for 20 years and has always wanted to set up a Valley office.
He had an office in Los Angeles until about nine years ago, when he left the state as taxes were increasing. At that time, he had considered moving to either Phoenix or Miami, Florida.
“We moved to Miami and have been seeking desperately to move to Phoenix for our operations for at least the last eight years because of the business climate, the politics, the economic possibilities and opportunities and because the people are just wonderful there,” Cardone said.
Calling the Scottsdale office his West Coast facility, Cardone said it will house business management services and consulting teams.
Dawson said the consulting and business management company will help business owners grow and scale in their marketplace.
The company is looking to initially hire 45 people for the Scottsdale office, with eventual plans for having 120 employees by this time next year, said Dawson, who serves as founder and CEO of Grant Cardone Ventures.
Those professional services positions will include finance, operations, marketing, business analyst and technology positions.
“We really have had huge success hiring local Arizonans from all the universities,” Dawson said. “It’s a really good spot to hire remarkable people.”
Dawson and his wife, Natalie, who serves as executive vice president of operations, just finished building a home on the east side of Camelback Mountain, after visiting here for the past seven years.
“Grant, Natalie and myself are so bullish on this market because of all the opportunities,” Dawson said. “Most importantly, because people in Arizona are remarkable. The talent pool here is incredible.”
